Safari Quest invites you to experience the forests of Bandipur this June and July. The dense, green forests of Bandipur are stunning in the monsoon. Catch rainbows and see a new side to the wildlife that lives here. The rain-soaked wilds put on a whole new look, shedding the earthy tones of brown for hues of green to greet guests through the monsoon.
What you will see in plenty are the deer, sambar, bison and herds of elephants, who love nothing more than playing in the rain. The watering holes are full and around them, you are sure to spot wild boar and bison.

2 nights, 3 days
Day 2
Morning:
- Wake up early and head out to Bandipur, experience the forest in its morning glory. The early hours provide excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings and birdwatching. Explore the dense forests and grassy landscapes while keeping an eye out for wildlife such as tigers, elephants, leopards and various bird species.
- Marvel at the breathtaking beauty of the park as the sun rises and casts its golden glow on the wilderness.
Afternoon:
- Head to the Mangifera Resort for lunch. Freshen up before you head back to Mysore.
Evening:
- As twilight sets in, head to the bustling Devaraja Market, where the vibrant colors and aromatic scents blend together in harmony. Indulge in the local delicacies, taste the famous Mysore Pak and browse through the shops that showcase intricate silk sarees and sandalwood products.
- Head back to Safari Quest and enjoy an outdoor dining experience at Best Kept Secret!
Day 3
Morning:
- Wake up and enjoy a healthy, wholesome breakfast at Safari Quest.
- Visit the Karanji Lake Nature Park, situated adjacent to the Mysore Zoo.
- Take a leisurely stroll around the lake and enjoy the serene ambience. The lake is surrounded by a lush green environment with trees and plants, providing an ideal setting for a peaceful nature walk. Keep an eye out for wildlife sightings like butterflies, reptiles, and small mammals.
- Go bird watching here. Karanji Lake is home to a wide variety of bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Grab your binoculars and spend time observing the numerous resident and migratory birds that visit the lake. Look out for species like painted storks, pelicans, herons, egrets, and kingfishers.
- Karanji Lake is known for its Butterfly Park, which is home to a wide range of butterfly species.
- Visit the Aviary: Karanji Lake houses an aviary that is home to various bird species, including parakeets, peafowls, and partridges. Explore the aviary and observe these birds up close. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn more about different avian species and their habitats.
Afternoon:
- Head back to Safari Quest, grab a quick early lunch, pack and check out.

Exploring palaces, royal villas and more
Have you ever stood in the courtyard of a palace, gazing at and listening to the pitter-patter outside? There is something to be said about touring ancient palaces and historical monuments during the magical monsoon season. Walk through the Kalyana Mantap with stained glass ceilings and admire the Golden Howdah, the Maharajas seat made from 85 kilograms of pure gold!
It doesn’t stop here. Visit other royal homes, enjoy strolling through the Karanji Mansion gardens and admiring the rain from the porch of the Jaganmohan Palace where you can also indulge in some art!

Day 2
Morning:
- After breakfast, head out for a visit to Cheluvamba Mansion, located in the heart of Mysore. Explore the historical significance and architectural beauty of this mansion, which now houses the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI).
Afternoon:
- Explore the Lalitha Mahal Palace, a beautiful mansion-turned-hotel that offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the royal family.
- Have lunch at a local restaurant, savoring traditional Karnataka cuisine.
Evening:
- Visit the St. Philomena's Cathedral, a magnificent Gothic-style church that showcases stunning architecture and houses relics of St. Philomena.
- Take a leisurely stroll through the Brindavan Gardens, famous for its musical fountains and colorful flower beds. Enjoy the evening light and sound show.
Day 3
Morning:
- Start your day by visiting the Mysore Rail Museum, where you can explore vintage locomotives, carriages, and exhibits showcasing the history of the Indian Railways.
Afternoon:
- Head to Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion, located within the University of Mysore campus. Admire the grandeur of this architectural gem, which now serves as the Folklore Museum. Explore the vast collection of artifacts, folk art, and traditional crafts representing the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka.
Evening:
- Visit Karanji Mansion, also known as Karanji Vilas. Marvel at the Indo-Saracenic architecture and explore the well-preserved interiors. This mansion is situated within the Karanji Lake premises, offering a serene environment for a leisurely stroll.
- Enjoy your farewell dinner at a Drongo Cafe, trying some of our curated chef specials.
Day 4
- Wake up leisurely and enjoy a hearty breakfast at Safari Quest and check out.

Of Birds and Butterflies
Nature in The Rain
History is great but the natural beauty that surrounds the cityscape is something else. Right around the city you will find pockets of green that outdo their usual splendor in the monsoons. Take a walk around Karanji Lake and watch the peacocks dance or witness a wide range of butterflies and birds at Ranganathittu. The butterflies spotted here in the monsoon are more abundant than those during the other seasons.

Day 2
Morning:
- Wake up and head out to Bandipur for a morning safari. Embark on a thrilling adventure in the heart of the wild at Bandipur National Park, where every safari brings an adrenaline rush and the chance to encounter majestic wildlife up close. From the captivating roar of the tigers to the graceful presence of elephants, a Bandipur safari is an exhilarating journey into nature's grand spectacle.
Afternoon:
- Have a picnic lunch before heading back, Enjoy and relax in the serene surroundings.
Evening:
- Return to Mysore and spend the evening at leisure. You can explore the Devaraja Market and pick up souvenirs like a Mysore Silk Saree/ scarf and more.
Day 3
Morning:
- After breakfast, head to the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, located approximately 18 kilometers from Mysore. Explore the sanctuary on a boat ride, spotting various species of birds including migratory birds. It's a great opportunity for bird enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Afternoon:
- Enjoy a picnic lunch at Ranganathittu amidst nature and the birds!
- Post lunch, head back to Safari Quest for some R&R.
Evening:
- In the evening, visit the Brindavan Gardens, famous for its musical fountains and colorful flower beds. Spend some time strolling through the beautiful gardens, and if possible, witness the mesmerizing light and sound show.
Day 4
Morning:
- Wake up and enjoy a hearty breakfast.
- Head to the Kishkindha Moolika Bonsai Garden spread over 4 acres. It is a part of the Avadhoota Datta Peetham founded by His Holiness Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji and is well-known for its numerous varieties of bonsai plants (over 100 varieties of trees), interesting architecture and zen landscaping.
